Giant Silk Art is a Sydney-based creative studio developing original sculptural silk artworks through art, engineering, fabrication and installation expertise.

Daria Vazhenina brings together a background in Mechanical and Civil Engineering with a Master of Design and a long-standing interest in textile form, structure and scale.
Giant Silk Art grew from the belief that ambitious artistic ideas should not be separated from the practical realities of how they are built, transported and installed.
Daria leads the creative direction of each project, shaping the concept, visual language and final expression while working with the wider technical and installation team.

The visible form is only one part of the work. Material behaviour, structure, scale and installation planning are developed together so the finished piece can feel effortless in the space.

From early samples to full-scale forms, the work is shaped by hand using silk, textile construction and custom fabrication techniques.
Each piece is prepared not only to look beautiful, but to travel, assemble and perform in a real venue. Packaging, movement and installation are considered as part of the design.
